It’s All In The Details
Detroit Native Noel “Detail” Fisher is one of the hottest up and coming producers that you just might not know about yet. But you should. If you’ve been on the planet for the past couple years and you remember Ray J before reality set in, you might remember an album called “Raydiation” and then there’s Bone Thugs N Harmony “T.H.U.G.S.”; album in which Detail produced more than half of.
This young man seems to be on a non-stop whirlwind of work over the past 6 years. Working with Lady Gaga, Jamie Foxx, The Pussycat Dolls, Christina Aguillera, Usher, R Kelly, Snoop Dog, Brandy, Master P, Marques Houston and the list goes on.
I recently had the opportunity to talk with Detail as he was preparing for yet another performance out in LA. After the success of his latest project “Tattoo Girl” with Lil’ Wayne and T Pain, we begin to see a whole new facet of Detail. Yep, he’s an amazing artist all on his own. As he begins a year jam packed full of touring with Young Money, working with Lil’ Wayne completing his new album and an exciting transition for Detail within Universal Records we started our convo off at the beginning.
Grindin’ Mag: You have worked with the best of the best in the industry, artists of just about every genre of music, tell us about your start and your initial grind to get your foot in the door.
I started out in the streets of Detroit hustlin’ beats, when you’re good at something and people want what you have, you feel like a success, no matter the amount of money, I mean I felt like I had made it when I was dishin’ off $200 beats to the dope boys makin’ music. I would take that bread, grab some more cds to peddle my beats and keep it movin’. Making enough to hit the mall and grab the latest shoes felt like success. My beats just got better and better, everything I attempt, I eventually master so the progression just came about naturally. I moved out to LA to really get things jumpin’ on the West Coast, I couldn’t really afford that LA lifestyle yet but I was living with Ray J for a minute. The opportunity to be the Executive Producer of “Raydiation” was an amazing intro for me. I came into the game with Kobe Bryant status.
Grindin’ Mag: The list of artists you’ve worked with is staggering. From Good Charlotte, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Tom Green and the Jackass Crew, Lady Gaga to Master P. You are just all over the place.
There’s just no competition in this business for me, I’m needed in so many areas and you can see it from the list of my credits. The best knows the best. I’m a libra, I’m connected to energy, it’s all coming out in my music. It’s All In The Details baby. (laughs)
Grindin’ Mag: Tell me about your deal with Krazy Box Records and Universal, what’s going on there.
Of course when I came to LA I made up my mind, before I turn 25 I’m going to have a deal. And it happened just like that. On my 25th birthday I signed with Konvict Muzik/Universal. I’m completely hands on with my projects. If it’s something I just feel like the world needs to have Imma give it to em for free. I’ve been known to do that. Tattoo Girl was slated to be a single but I just wanted to give it to my fans. As I am beginning to break through as an artist as well as a producer things are changing for me in exciting ways. I can’t let too much out right now but as I finish working on this album with Wayne and start touring some changes and shifting will happen with my place at Interscope.
Grindin’ Mag: Wait, Wait, let’s get back to Jackass. You met those dudes? They are insane.
Yeah, Yeah. I just got right in there with em on the show, I’m just as insane. It was a blast.
Grindin’ Mag: So with a list of credits like yours, who are you still anxious to work with?
Oh I really wanna work with Alicia Keys. But you know Swizz Beatz beat me to the punch that time…
Grindin’ Mag: Well you know he moves around alot, you might get a shot soon.
Well Alicia I’m here ….
Grindin’ Mag: So you know we wanna know what you have going on now.
I spent most all of November, December and January with Lil’ Wayne. We’ve been so deep in production of the new album man. The tour is coming up and I will be on that with Young Money. But this mixtape I am about to drop, you got to check that out. Better Than Yesterday with DJ Ill Will. That’s about to jump out. After Wayne’s album drops there will be another mixtape right on the heels of that, so just tons of amazing work. I really wanna give props to Wayne, for taking the chance on me, giving me this great opportunity to work with Young Money. It’s such an honor.
Grindin’ Mag: Oh yeah, that is SUCH an honor, it seems everything Young Money touches turns to gold, you simply cannot fail, F*&$in’ with Young Money. I have been such a fan for such a long time and he just continues to amaze me. I can imagine the combination of your tremendous skills and Lil’ Wayne it’s going to be like spontaneous combustion. Can’t wait to hear it.
You know it. You’ll see much more of Detail as an artist emerging.
